Account Manager/Estimator

Classification: Exempt  

Reports to: Senior Estimator & Sales

Summary/Objective 

The Estimator position is responsible for processing requests for quotes/proposals that align with client, project, and product requirements.

Essential Functions 

  • Complete tasks and conduct behaviors consistent in the promotion of a standard of excellence
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures, and report any unsafe situations to management or human resources.
  • In-person, on-site, predictable attendance and punctuality in alignment with the position’s scheduled hours
  • Calculates materials required enters part numbers, pricing, and bill of materials (BOM) for internal and external processes to determine a per-piece price that meets customer requirements.
  • Coordinates and documents all details, costs, materials, and workflow required by other departments to ensure job and client expectations are met.
  • Develop lead times for finished goods during the quote process.
  • Gathers all necessary documents to formulate parts per price.
  • Creates formal quotes in the ERP system.
  • Organizes and stores quoting documents on the file server.
  • Knowledge of material types and characteristics, including raw and commercial materials (shapes, grades, availability, etc.) and knowledge of labor types (machining and packaging) and how to figure them is required.
  • Ability to understand the processes and flow of production and how the rates affect the final pricing.
  • Communicate with sales and DSP staff to clearly understand the customer’s requirements.
  • Makes recommendations to management for improvements in areas such as product quality, rates, and yields, or any other value-added cost-saving measures.
  • Maintains a clean and organized workspace.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.

Physical Requirements 

  • The ideal candidate must be able to complete all the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Sedentary work. Involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods.

Education and Experience

  • AA degree preferred
  • 2 years of estimating experience preferred and/or 5 years of high-level manufacturing experience required.
  • Production CNC Machining familiarity required
