We hope our Dubuque Screw Products team had a wonderful Christmas Day and enjoyed the well-deserved time with family and friends. After a holiday celebration on Monday, a floating holiday on Christmas Eve Day, and a Christmas Day holiday today, we're ready to come back together tomorrow and finish the year strong! Here's to making the final days of 2024 count and 2025 beyond what we can imagine!

Today, we’re celebrating by giving a shout-out to all our hardworking employees who keep pushing forward and getting the job done. At Dubuque Screw Products, we believe in practicing safety from the ground up—literally! Did you know we offer a $99 reimbursement for safety boots each calendar year for our shop floor employees? It’s just one of the ways we’re committed to your safety and well-being on the job.

At Dubuque Screw Products, safety comes first, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have some fun while we’re at it! Thanks to Hawkeye Fire & Safety, our team took on the challenge of laser-driven fire extinguisher training, competing to see who could put out the “flames” the fastest! Each employee now has a personal best to beat next year! The friendly competition was fierce; everyone walked away with better safety skills and a healthy dose of excitement!

In honor of #ManufacturingWeek, we fired up the griddle for our amazing team here at Dubuque Screw Products! This morning, we served up smiles (and stacks of pancakes ) with a special breakfast, courtesy of our very own grill masters—President & COO Matt Scherr and Plant Manager John Welter! Our crew LOVES a good competition or a chance to enjoy a meal together, and today, we delivered with plenty of syrup and some quality bonding time. Here's to the hardworking people who make Dubuque Screw Products what it is. We appreciate you!

On Saturday, we had a fantastic time celebrating Manufacturing Week at Derby Grange with the Dubuque Screw Products team! The day was filled with delicious BBQ, Jumble and Czipars Orchard desserts, football, games, and great company. Thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy the perfect weather and some fun away from work. We’re grateful to have such a fantastic team!

We are thankful to live in a community that has opened its doors and provided cooling centers for individuals with the extreme heat that has settled into Dubuque the past few days. When the severe temps roll in, Dubuque Screw Products also takes action to make sure our employees can work in a cool and safe environment. While we usually enjoy open overhead doors to invite the outdoors in, some days call for us to lower the overhead doors to enjoy the benefits of our temperature-controlled facility. In addition, all year, we have seven industrial fans moving massive amounts of air to optimize comfort for our dedicated team. Today, we are grateful that the hottest thing our employees are experiencing in our facility isn't the temperature; it's the hot sauce on our company-wide taco lunch from Carlos O'Kelly's. Stay safe and cool out there, Dubuque!

Did you know? Our journey began in 1946 right here on Main Street, Dubuque! If you've ever visited Mason Dixon, you're stepping into a piece of our history. This building was the very first home of Dubuque Screw Products. You still catch a hint of the old machine shop coolant in the air.Check out the before photo(1980) and after photo (2024) of our original building. From precision machining to delicious meals and drinks, this place has seen it all!

Step into the whimsical world of Wes Anderson with Dubuque Screw Products! Daniel W., our summer intern (with acting credits including intern Max), received a video challenge to transform our shop into a quirky, symmetrical wonderland inspired by the iconic Wes Anderson style. If you're a film fanatic, you have probably seen a Wes Anderson movie. If not, he is known for its distinctive visual and narrative elements, featuring meticulous symmetry, vibrant color palettes, and a playful yet nostalgic vibe. From perfectly framed shots to the tiniest details, we've captured the essence of what makes his films so beloved. We are thrilled to announce that our Make-A-Wish event for Timmy F., also known as Timmy Tough, was a huge success! Diagnosed with B-cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia, Timmy has shown incredible strength and resilience, earning his nickname. After a long battle, Timmy is now cancer-free! With immense pride, Dubuque Screw Products helped make Timmy’s dream of visiting Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios come true. Thanks to the generous donations and hard work of our employees, we raised over $15,000 to support Timmy’s wish. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to this memorable event. Congratulations to Timmy and his family on a wish granted and cherished memories made!

Shoutout to Our Shipping Team! Last Thursday, our Shipping Team set a company record by shipping out an incredible number of orders in just one day! To celebrate this achievement, we brought out the Pit Boss grill for burgers! A special thanks to our plant manager, John, for grilling up those delicious burgers with the assistance of Marv from our shipping department. Great job to our entire team for the dedication and hard work it takes to plan, produce, and package every order with precision. Your efforts ensure our customers receive top-quality products on time, every time.

Today marks our 2-year anniversary since the groundbreaking ceremony where Mike Scherr made the first dig into the ground for our 28,000 sq ft expansion, which now totals us at 58,000 sq ft. We've labeled this special spot with a floor decal to mark that first dig. The decal isn't showing signs of wear, it's reflecting signs of our progress. This decal has survived the hustle of our employee's boots as they move intentionally throughout their day, the wheels of our forklifts moving raw material to our machines and crafted customer parts from our machines, and the floor scrubber that keeps our employees and facility safe and an environment for excellence. It’s more than a symbol of where our groundbreaking started, it's now a fixture in our progress.

Saturday marked an incredible day for our company's golf event!A huge shoutout to all the teams who participated in our 9-hole best-shot event, and a special round of applause for those who embarked on the exciting hunt for our hidden fairway finds! However, we find ourselves in an exhilarating tiebreaker situation! Two teams have managed to uncover all 9 hidden items, showcasing their keen eyes.We turn to you to help us break this deadlock! And here at Dubuque Screw Products, we're pulling out all the stops to celebrate not just today, but all week long!But what exactly is National Skilled Trades Day all about? It's a day dedicated to recognizing and honoring the invaluable contributions of skilled tradespeople across the nation. From welders to machinists, electricians to plumbers, these individuals are the backbone of countless industries, using their expertise to build, repair, and innovate every day.At Dubuque Screw Products, we're incredibly proud of our hardworking employees and the exceptional skills they bring to the table. Today we visited with the bright minds of high school students attending the Kirkwood Regional Centers for CNC! Huge shoutout to all the students who stopped at our table with questions, tackled our timed test game, and cracked our machining code! We loved seeing so many of you walk away with awesome prizes. Why do things always look a little different the day before Thanksgiving?

It’s World Quality Day! Our Quality team is responsible for confirming that our machined parts meet our specified customer quality standards, which is crucial for maintaining our shop’s excellent reputation in delivering high-quality precision parts and. ensuring our customers are satisfied with our service.

Our final machine move took place this morning, and we made sure to stop and recognize what a momentous event this was for our team. Since June, when we moved our first machine into the new expansion until today, we’ve had a dedicated group of teammates who have successfully moved 26 of our 31 machines to a new home in our facility. Thank you to Nick R., Willy T., Stevie S., and Chris H. for orchestrating this significant project. Each machine move is a delicate operation, and each one happened successfully and safely. Each machine was shut down, moved, and up and operational within 24 hours of its move. Amazing. This is why we look for well-rounded team players—it takes a village, and ours is the best!

Today, we're proudly joining the nationwide celebration of Manufacturing Day! It's the perfect occasion to recognize the incredible impact of our industry, inspire the next generation of makers, and reshape perceptions about manufacturing.

Last Saturday, Dubuque Screw Products got to share our new expansion and give Dubuque Screw Products employees the chance to tour their family and friends through our now 58,000 sq. ft. facility. Interactive displays and informative tour stops made the tour not only a visual experience but also an informative one. We enjoyed hosting this fun afternoon!

We are thrilled to announce that our Make-A-Wish event for Lincoln was a huge success! Thanks to the generous donations and hard work of Dubuque Screw Products employees, we raised over $15,000 to help make Lincoln's wish come true. And today, we are proud to say that Lincoln's wish for a playground has been granted! The playground will be installed on May 11th, and we can't wait to see the smile on Lincoln's face when he gets to play on it. We just wrapped up an amazing event at the Galena Golf Club for our Best Shot Golf Event on May 13th! With twelve fantastic teams of four, it was a day filled with great weather, friendly competition, and lots of fun! Congrats to our winners, Nick Dempsey and Matt Anderson, and their partners! We hope that all the participants had as much fun as we did organizing this event. Keep an eye out for tomorrow's post that will show each player's Happy Gilmore shot- we need your votes!

National Skilled Trades Day is observed annually on the first Wednesday in May. Fun fact: this day was established in 2019 by City Machine Technologies in Youngstown, Ohio, to help raise awareness about the value of the skilled trades workforce in the United States and honor skilled trades workers.Take a look at a few faces of Dubuque Screw Products that specialize in skilled trades. We are wrapping up Skilled Trades Week with a special tour for Key City Plating Co., one of our most valued and longstanding suppliers, as well as the Busy Bees, a group of retired individuals who are passionate about learning and exploring the world of manufacturing.
